Today marks the five week countdown until I'm home for the summer. I'm excited to go home to stay.. again, I know, worst college student ever. I'm in the process of applying for a new job, and I'm pretty stoked for if I get it, so keep your fingers crossed for me!!
I've just arrived back at school.. last night I went to see the American Reunion with my sister and her husband. It was quite hilarious, and it was a nice night out with them. I love that movie theaters are open on Easter... aside from Church and dinner there's not a whole lot to do. Then, Jen helped me with my taxes.. wicked exciting right?
Jen and Josh drove me back to school today with Violet, which was really nice. I enjoy every minute with her, and look forward to spending all summer with her :)
I don't have a lot to say today.. since I did just get back to school and Easter weekend was pretty chill. Here's a cool video/song and a picture.. I'll come up with more for tomorrow. Promise!

I'm currently studying.. well now taking a break to write this, but I was studying for my World Regional Geo test tomorrow. The song is Let the Waters Rise by MIKESCHAIR. It's a great song. It's a Christian rock song/alternative and though I'm not huge into that genre, I've found that it's good study music. Certain songs like this one, just give you the motivation or confidence to keep going no matter how hard you want to stop.
I'm a Christian without an official denomination, and I don't preach about God, and I don't try to spread my beliefs because I know there are a lot of people who would stop listening to what I had to say. I won't hide it though. I will not walk away from my faith, but I also ask you do not walk away from me for sharing this song. It's a great song.
Today is THURSDAY.
I had Environmental Conservation (which I had to type three times before I didn't say Conversation) at 8am but, guys, I actually didn't struggle to get up for it!! And, last night I stayed up until 1-ish to finish reading for a quiz in Dinosaurs (which was my second class). I was a bad student though.. I may or may not have bolted out of the lecture hall after the reading quiz because I needed to get studying for my test tomorrow. It's far more important right now.
Tomorrow is FRIDAY. I only have one class tomorrow! Woot! But, it's an exam and it's 9am. Boooooo.
Following my exam and waiting for the rest of the carpool to complete their classes... I get to GO HOME!!!!!!!

Today is Wednesday. Normal Wednesdays I have two classes, World Regional Geo at 9am and American Politics at 11am. Today, my 9am was cancelled. So I only had class at 11. Friday (which has the same schedule) my 11am is cancelled. So, after my exam at 9, I'm officially free for the weekend!!
The Sun is out and shining... there's not a cloud in the sky. I have the desire to hop on a bus and go to the lake walk, but I feel like I'll get lost on the way back, so I won't. But, soon I will go down to the lake and take some pictures of the beautiful Lake Superior for all of the awesome people who read this day after day.
This weekend is Easter and I'm excited because apparently my favorite aunt (is that okay to say?) is coming from Washington! I know she'll be busy visiting with the grandparents (her parents) but I am excited nonetheless, because she's the best aunt ever. She's fun and nice and treats me like an adult, and she's just overall really awesome. She's incredibly athletic, she climbs mountains, she runs, and does really awesome adventurous things, and I just really love to hear her stories.
Another really awesome part of this weekend is that my sister is going to bring me back to school Monday, so that I can actually take part in our Easter dinner, which is my favorite holiday meal. Otherwise, I'd be missing my favorite meal and headed back to school Sunday with my normal ride (boyfriend). I'm excited, because it means I get extra time with my family.
I realize this means I'm a terrible college student: I like being home too much. It's not my fault. I promise. It's the adorable little niece who makes me so homesick when I'm gone. I just want to be able to have her cuddly little hugs all the time. My favorite thing is when she digs through her toy basket (now an adorable bench) and pulls out a book, sets it in front of you, and says up. Then, you read, to her and she loves it. I love it.

I've recently realized that I actually love all of my classes, except for one. Unfortunately, the one class I dislike is the one I looked forward to most. Dinosaurs. You'd think it'd be awesome eh? Dinos are SOOO COOL.. but learning about the bones and skeletal features that make them a specific type of Dinosaur is not so cool. Like, I don't care so much about which digits they don't have or that are pointed in a certain direction. I like the information about how they relate to species today-- like some of the Ornithichians that had bodily movements similar to the ostrich or emu today... that's cool. I also think it's interesting that they were commonly feathered, like not just bird-like species.. a lot of dinosaurs had feathers. That's cool.. but most of the stuff I'm learning, is boring to me.
In case you haven't guess.. I'm in my dino class... I've done homework for other classes so far and have run out of things to do. I guess I can take some notes :/

Today is Saturday. Today is the day I slept until noon. Oops. Today and this weekend are kinda going to be packed full of boring stuff-- ya know, homework stuff.
... I lied. Today is now April Fools Day.. April 1st. I started this post at one yesterday.. got completely distracted by Netflix, Facebook, Killer Bunnies, and a lab due this week. Technically I should shut down my computer right now and go to bed so I can get up for homework crack down tomorrow.. but Netflix and Facebook are two demons I'm not sure I can defeat tonight. What if.. I do my lab while listening to a show on Netflix and reward myself with a few minutes of Facebook chat after every question...?
Don't judge. If you're a student.. you've done this. I know you have. We all have.
April first. Where the heck did this year go? I guess if I look back, every week seemed to drag on relentlessly, and I hated how long it seemed, but it's just like last year.. by the time we blinked.. it was practically gone. This time last year, I was starting to think about writing my speech for graduation, I had just registered for fall semester, I wanted to be a Stat's and Political Science major, I had just quit working at Starbucks.. and I was scared to death to think about the school year ending already.
This year.. I'm not writing a speech for graduation, but I'm writing this blog. I register for fall semester in just over a week. I am definitely neither a Stats or Political Science major, but am currently in the process of review for Geography and English majors... hey hey hey hey hey.. did you see that.. I, Hannah Eilene, have officially DECLARED two majors. I've decided. I seriously can't wait to hear back from Mr. Hage.. I can explain that in a bit.. I'm still on the hunt for a job closer to home for the summer, currently I work about 25 minutes from my house and without a car.. the commute is a tad difficult... or impossible... and as much as I'm really ready to go home and spend three months with my friends, with my family, and with my cat (don't laugh).. I'm still scared to let this year end. It flew by so fast, and I haven't finished my Freshman bucket list.
Mr Hage was a teacher at my high school who helped me decide what I wanted to do with my life about fifty times and each new decision he was shocked, because it shied away from the one thing he knew I wanted to do most. Even when I decided to major in Geography and get a minor in GIS, he was excited and proud, but still surprised that there wasn't any English or writing in there. Now, I can hear him laughing and giving me his "I told you so" smile.. and flat out saying, "I told you so".
I'm glad I decided to sneak English in there. It's the first decision that I can say I'm 100% excited and confident about. I love Geography too, so I'm excited to do both.. and I mentioned GIS.. that's in the plan too. These next three years... they're gonna be rough. Add in a semester in Peru.. stay tuned.. if nothing else for the pictures when that happens. Peru is absolutely gorgeous and I'm sure I'll have a lot to say... but I'm going to make these years in college worth every penny. I just need to remember not to blink.. because time FLIES.. like these Pelicans -->
On that note.. Happy April First, because I can promise I won't be playing any jokes today.
As a writer.. in general.. I get excited when people read my stuff. I'd argue that generally I get more excited when people are reading my fiction work, but hey.. reaching 3K last night, pretty much made me the happiest person alive... To top it off.. I'm well over 3400 now, so please, don't stop! Keep coming back. I try to keep it updated, and I try not to bog you down with the boring crap.. so I hope you stay interested.
Today, aside from getting an outrageous number of views, I've also learned, that I suck at accepting failure. I stayed up until nearly 4am studying for an 8am exam.. and I know they always suggest you get a good night's sleep prior to big tests.. but man, when you don't know something that's half the content.. you better stay up and try to get a handle on the information. But then, you run the risk of waking up late, losing it all when you pick up your pencil, fighting tears while trying to fill in bubbles and accurately represent the major ocean currents and wind belts, and leaving the exam with full intent of spending all day in bed watching reruns of How I Met Your Mother.
Today, I did all of those things. Except the last one.. I didn't intend to watch reruns all day... I was going to go back to bed.. which I did.. and then one quick episode turned into 19 episodes of Season 7. They've been.. wait for it.... LEGEND---ARY. (reference).
Things I've learned from today:
1. Ocean currents and wind belts SUCK.
2. I should have watched the case study videos-- though I was able to BS those essays...
3. I can't make dirty jokes towards my best friend.. or certain ones.. (long story)
4. There most definitely IS a proper response to, "Babe, Honest question... would you date a stripper?"
5. My boyfriend knows it. (high five)
6. I am lazy.
7. Finding this picture reminded me that I liked my bangs.. but should NEVER do them again.
8. I love blue Kool-aid Bursts.

My personal water footprint, using the information with my family at home, not my college consumption was about 713 gallons which is considerably low compared to the nearly 1200 gallons of water that the average American consumes. Look at your footprint, and consider the easy changes you could make, like taking shorter showers or using less gas... which really does reduce water (did you know that?). Water is such an important and limited resource that more than anything, we need to savor it.
This is really interesting-- not about conservation of water.. but exploring depths we've never seen before..
James Cameron went below the surface of the sea, to greater depths than if you were to flip Mount Everest upside down... and was able to capture pictures of this alien-like ecosystem we know so little about. Check it out :)
I love water! I know that sounds ridiculous.. we all love water. It's necessary for our survival.. required for us to live. We use it everyday.. because we actually have to. It's needed to grow the plants we eat, to quench our thirst, to keep us clean, and it's huge for recreational purposes. I'm a Minnesota girl.. I grew up in the lakes. We fish, we swim, kayak and canoe, we go in our speedboats and tube, ski, or wake-board. Water is something we not only need, but something we enjoy. It's beautiful, serene, and offers a whole array of animals that we can enjoy-- like my personal favorite, salamanders. As a Minnesotan, I truly enjoy being able to find our state bird, the loon, on my favorite lake. Water is something more of us need to take a minute to truly appreciate and build a better relationship with
